Jim Henson Memorial Sculpture

Jim Henson and Kermit in bronze memorial bench

Artist: Jay Hall Carpenter

In 1999, Jay Hall Carpenter was challenged to take two beloved cultural figures and create an engaging sculpture that would welcome visitors and provides a photo opportunity. Carpenter created a fitting tribute to University of Maryland alumnus, Jim Henson.

The sculpture is considered by The Washington Post as one of the ten must-see sculptures in Washington DC.

How to Commission a Custom Painting or Sculpture

Commissioning original art begins with a conversation. Quent Cordair Fine Art helps private collectors, businesses and organizations select an appropriate artist and develop a clear vision for a custom painting or sculpture.

  1. Share your idea. Tell us about the subject, setting, preferred size, medium and meaning you hope the artwork will convey.

  2. Explore the possibilities. We’ll help identify artists whose style and experience are well suited to your vision.

  3. Develop the commission. Once the artist and concept are selected, the details—including dimensions, materials, price, anticipated timeline and approval process—are clearly outlined before work begins.

  4. Follow the artwork’s progress. Depending on the project, preliminary concepts or progress updates may be shared as the commission develops.

  5. Receive and display your artwork. QCFA assists with the final arrangements, including worldwide delivery and guidance for installation or display when needed.

For thirty years, Quent Cordair Fine Art has helped collectors acquire meaningful original art for private residences, corporate settings and public spaces. The initial conversation is an opportunity to explore what may be possible.

Call 307-264-1964 or submit the commission inquiry form below.

That would directly answer the high-intent question in natural language while reinforcing QCFA’s experience and collector service.
