In 1999, Jay Hall Carpenter was challenged to take two beloved cultural figures and create an engaging sculpture that would welcome visitors and provides a photo op. Carpenter created a fitting tribute to University of Maryland alumnus, Jim Henson.

The sculpture is considered by The Washington Post as one of the ten must-see sculptures in Washington DC.
