Dale Momii
Born in San Francisco of mixed Japanese and Hispanic ancestry, Dale Momii developed an interest in art at an early age. He received his formal training as an artist mainly through private lessons and workshops given by various instructors.
Perhaps due to his instructors’ diverse styles, Dale has always been comfortable painting in various mediums, mainly oils, alkyds, and acrylics on canvas and masonite. He enjoys experimenting with different techniques and always attempts to do something new, often with startling results.
Dale received an Associate of Art Degree in Technical Illustration from the College of San Mateo and has worked as a commercial artist in the aerospace industry for more than 33 years. He has taught private painting classes and workshops to adults and children for more than three decades.
Dale paints a wide range of subjects and has completed numerous commissions in pencil, pen and ink, alkyd, acrylic, and oil. Koi hold a special place in his work, alongside wildlife, still lifes, and portraiture. Whatever the subject or medium, he strives for realism.
