HOW DO I START AN ART COLLECTION?
Starting an art collection begins with purchasing artwork you genuinely love. The most rewarding collections are built around personal taste rather than trends. Whether you are purchasing your first original painting, a bronze sculpture, or a limited-edition print, focus on works that inspire you and bring lasting enjoyment.
Many collectors begin with a single piece and gradually build a collection over time. Our art consultants are happy to help you select artwork that reflects your interests, goals, and living spaces.
HOW DO I CHOOSE ART FOR MY HOME?
The best artwork for your home is one that resonates with you emotionally while complementing the scale and character of the room. Consider wall size, lighting, furnishings, and the mood you wish to create.
Whether you are seeking a dramatic focal point for a living room, a peaceful landscape for a bedroom, or an inspiring work for an office, our consultants can help you find the perfect piece.
WHAT SIZE ARTWORK SHOULD I BUY?
The ideal size depends on the room, ceiling height, furniture placement, and viewing distance. As a general rule, artwork should be large enough to create visual impact without overwhelming the space.
Many collectors are surprised to discover that artwork often needs to be larger than initially expected. Quent Cordair Fine Art regularly helps clients select properly scaled paintings and sculpture for homes, offices, and commercial spaces.
CAN I SEE HOW A PAINTING OR SCULPTURE WILL LOOK IN MY HOME?
Yes. In many cases, Quent Cordair Fine Art can provide digital room visualizations to help collectors see how a painting or sculpture may look in their home, office, or garden. This can be especially helpful when evaluating size, placement, and overall impact before making a purchase.
HOW SHOULD ARTWORK BE LIT?
Proper lighting enhances the beauty, color, and detail of fine art. Adjustable LED picture lights and professionally designed art lighting systems can dramatically improve the appearance of paintings and sculpture while minimizing heat and ultraviolet exposure.
Quent Cordair Fine Art regularly assists collectors in selecting appropriate lighting solutions for homes, offices, and collections.
WHY SHOULD I WORK WITH AN ART CONSULTANT?
An experienced art consultant can help you select artwork that fits your personal taste, budget, space, and long-term collecting goals. Professional guidance can save time, reduce uncertainty, and help collectors discover artists and artwork they may not have found on their own.
Since 1996, Quent Cordair Fine Art has helped private and corporate collectors select artwork for homes, offices, public spaces, and personal collections. Our goal is to make collecting art enjoyable, rewarding, and deeply personal.

DOES QUENT CORDAIR FINE ART OFFER COMMISSIONED ART?
Yes. Many of our painters and sculptors accept commissions for portraits, figurative artwork, sculpture, landscapes, and other custom projects.
The commission process typically begins with a consultation to discuss subject matter, size, budget, and timeline. Commissioned artwork offers a unique opportunity to bring your personal values, interests, and vision to life through fine art.
HOW LONG DOES A COMMISSION TAKE?
The timeline for a commissioned artwork depends on the artist, the complexity of the project, and the artist's current schedule. Some commissions may be completed within a few months, while larger projects may require additional time.
We are happy to discuss estimated timelines for specific artists and projects.
HOW DO I CARE FOR AN ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING?
Original oil paintings are remarkably durable when properly displayed and cared for. Avoid hanging artwork in direct sunlight or areas with excessive humidity, such as bathrooms. Dust frames and surfaces gently with a soft, dry cloth or a clean, soft artist's brush. Avoid using household cleaning products on the painting or the frame.
With proper care, an original oil painting can be enjoyed for generations and often becomes a treasured family heirloom.
HOW DO I CARE FOR A GICLÉE PRINT?
Museum-quality giclée prints are created using archival inks and materials designed for long-term display. To maximize longevity, avoid direct sunlight, excessive moisture, and extreme temperature changes. Care for a giclée print much as you would an original oil painting.
Proper framing with archival materials and UV-protective glazing can provide additional protection. With reasonable care, a high-quality giclée print can retain its beauty for many decades.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ORIGINAL PAINTING AND A PRINT?
An original painting is a one-of-a-kind work created entirely by the artist's hand. Original artwork contains the texture, brushwork, and subtle details that make each piece unique.
A print is a reproduction of an original artwork. High-quality giclée prints allow collectors to enjoy favorite works at a more accessible price while maintaining exceptional color and detail.
WHAT IS A GICLÉE PRINT?
A giclée print is a museum-quality digital reproduction created using archival inks and advanced printing technology. The process captures exceptional detail, color accuracy, and longevity.
The term "giclée" comes from the French word meaning "to spray." Modern giclée prints are widely collected for their beauty, durability, and fidelity to the original artwork. High-definition giclée printing allows for exceptional detail and color depth that can closely resemble the appearance of the original painting.
CAN BRONZE SCULPTURE BE DISPLAYED OUTDOORS?
Yes. Traditional cast bronze sculpture is one of the most durable forms of fine art and can often be displayed outdoors for generations. Bronze sculptures are frequently installed in gardens, courtyards, entryways, and public spaces. Note: bonded bronze sculptures are more fragile than cast bronze sculptures. Careful consideration should be given before displaying bonded bronze art outdoors.
Outdoor sculpture should be placed on a secure base and may benefit from occasional maintenance depending on climate and exposure.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CAST BRONZE AND BONDED BRONZE?
Cast bronze sculpture is created using the traditional lost-wax casting process and consists primarily of bronze. It is exceptionally durable and suitable for both indoor and outdoor display.
Bonded bronze combines real bronze powder with a resin base. While bonded bronze can capture excellent detail and is often more affordable, cast bronze remains the preferred choice for collectors seeking maximum longevity and permanence.
HOW DO I CARE FOR BRONZE SCULPTURE?
Bronze sculpture requires very little maintenance. Indoor sculptures typically need only occasional dusting with a soft cloth. Outdoor sculptures may benefit from periodic cleaning and waxing to help preserve their patina and appearance.
IS FINE ART A GOOD LONG-TERM INVESTMENT?
While artwork should first be purchased because it brings beauty and enjoyment to your life, many collectors also view fine art as a long-term asset. Established artists with strong collector followings may experience increased demand over time.
The greatest return on art ownership, however, is often the daily inspiration, beauty, and personal meaning it brings to your home or workplace.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY ART?
Delivery times vary depending on the artwork selected. Many paintings and sculptures are available for immediate shipment, while others may require casting, framing, or special preparation prior to delivery.
In some cases, a sculpture may be cast specifically for the collector so that a newly produced edition is received rather than a gallery display piece. We work closely with professional framers, foundries, and shipping specialists to ensure that your artwork arrives safely and as quickly as possible.
