La Danseuse is French for The Dancer. A ballerina sits quietly awaiting her next performance. After I completed this piece and showed it to the model, she exclaimed, “I don’t know how you took a photo of me sitting on the floor doing nothing, and turned it into something so beautiful.” I suppose that is the role of the artist: to take something seemingly mundane and to create something profound.
